Not That type of Pride
For a while now I have had a healthy obsession with MMA which all started from my love of Japan. Ever since I was little all i ever wanted to be was a Samurai, Ninja or both. Due to this I eventually stumbled onto the JMMA scene of Pride fc. Once i found Pride I fell in love for the first time in my life. To me it was a mix of the epic battles, the production value, the event posters and the fighters themselves. Now that Pride is dead the only solace I now have is Dream fc which tried to fill the void that Pride left as well as the timeless Shooto events which can only be viewed through DVD’s that if one wants to buy must find a black market buyer for ones bodily organs.
Anyway enough of this nostalgia now to the point. I am a complete sucker for packaging and in MMA the packaging to me is all about the event posters. Even if you have nil interest in MMA if you appreciate any for of marketing, graphic design etc these posters are not what you expect and are well worth a view.
K-1 is probably one of the best sports that just completely flies under peoples sporting radar. If you are not convinced wait for future posts
A New City
Today is the first day of my two month internship in Melbourne working for Swisse Pharmaceuticals. Having temporarily relocated from Perth I have already noticed some surprising differences between my Perth and Melbourne. It sort of made me sad as when I look around my new home I see everything Perth could be and more. Yes we are slowly making progress but I can’t help but wonder if Perth will ever reach it’s full potential as a city due to the simple-mindedness and the backwards way of people in Perth.
Still not sure if this will be for better or worse
